I was in a client meeting this week preaching the same old message: be held accountable to results. Every time I preach it, I get confirmation that yes, that makes sense.

Then comes the accountability, ahh now this might be a different story. I say why be afraid, let’s tie our own incentives to our performance. I believe Jonathan Toews of the Chicago Blackhawks received a bonus over 1 million dollars for being awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy (2010).

What are you going to win this year?

The Internet, actually the speed of the internet and its accessibility, have changed how we communicate. Some change can be challenged, but all in all it is good.

I love the idea of my kids harnessing the power of laptops and tablets in school and researching for their reports, or taking online exams. Even collaborating with other students and teachers on the other side of the world.

What I do not love, is the negative things that they can come across online, the disconnect to face-to-face interaction, and the missing world of the tactile integrated media.

I must admit that I found myself impressed during a recent visit to Old Navy. However, first we need to start with how I ended up there on a Saturday afternoon among many other shoppers.

I have a teenage son that is growing incredibly fast. In addition he is the oldest, so when he outgrows his clothes, he gets to buy new ones.

So, problem: boy needs pants that do not look like girls’ Capris.

Ah, what a great feeling here in Chicago after a big playoff win at home by the Blackhawks.
